Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
Today, I got the news that my grandmother passed away last night. It wasn’t a total shock as she has had some health issues for the past several months. But it was a sudden reminder that life is short…even if you live what we consider a long life.
My grandmother was given 98 years on this earth. I spent most of my adult life praying that she would embrace Christ. I personally shared the Gospel with her several times. There were moments that give us hope that she is with Jesus, but we’ll never know for sure this side of life. All we know is that God answered our prayers by giving her every last physical opportunity to hear it again.
Life is short. Even if it is 98 years long. In the perspective of eternity, 98 years is but a flash.
Who do you know that needs to hear about Christ? Maybe you’ve told someone you love about Christ, and they ignored you. Why not say it again? They won’t be here forever.
In the end, all that matters is what happens NEXT, not now.
Nini, we’ll miss you. Hope to see you again someday.
