In Part 1 of y2k, we looked at the life of a prophet, Elisha, who prayed a really bold prayer. Bold prayers prepare the way to experience big miracles from God.
There are times when God wants to do something big in our lives. There are times when God wants to do something big in the church. When you find yourself in these times, you can choose to stay where you are, or you can refuse to stay and take a huge step of faith.
Elisha found himself in this place, and He refused to stay still because He knew God was going to do something big.
2 Kings 2:9 (NIV)
“When they had crossed, Elijah said to Elisha, ‘Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken from you?’
‘Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit,’ Elisha replied.”
This is a bold request. Elijah could not give him double of what he had. This was a request that only God could answer. Eventually, you are going to come to a place when you need to ask God for something bold.
Is it your time to start praying double portion prayers? Over the summer, Pastor Tim started to pray a double portion prayer. He started praying a y2k prayer.
God has called us to build His church, and Pastor Tim started praying that God would help us reach 2,000 people every weekend by the end of 2014. We don’t have the resources. We don’t have the money. We don’t have the space. We don’t have the staff. We have no idea how this will work, but we can’t plan ahead of God. Sometimes you have to wait to see God show up. God shows up when you pray big prayers and then you take big steps of faith.
