Blocking a miracle

Is it possible for us to limit what God can do?  Most people would argue that we can’t limit God.  He is all powerful.  He can do anything he wants at any time.  While I do agree with those statements, I would suggest that possibly God has allowed himself to be limited by us.

In Mark 6 (our Bible reading challenge this week), it shows Jesus going to his hometown for a short visit.  Jesus had been doing some crazy miracles by this time and everyone was talking about him.  But when he gets home, the people only knew him as Jesus the boy who grew up there and couldn’t see him as Jesus the Son of God.  And they really doubted him.  Notice what Jesus encounters in verses 5-6.

He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them.  And he was amazed at their lack of faith.

Jesus appears to have been severely limited in doing miracles because of their lack of faith.  In fact it was so bad that Jesus was “amazed” at their lack of faith.  Perhaps this is why many people pray but never see anything happen.  They don’t truly believe He can!

Do you believe that God can do a miracle in your life?  If not, be honest and ask God… “help me believe”.  I do serve an all-powerful God, I just pray that any lack of faith in my life doesn’t stop him from doing miracles in my life.
