Today marks the beginning of a 40 Day Prayer Challenge for our entire staff. I first heard about this challenge last week, and I felt like God stir my heart to do this. Of course as the Lead Pastor…I made our entire staff join me!!
I don’t know about you, but for me, there are some things where I am waiting on God. There are some important steps that I need Him to show me for my life and for our church. I feel like I’m in a place of waiting for God to move.
Let me just say that waiting on God is not a bad thing; however, it can be a frustrating thing. We want answers now! We want direction now! We are impatient people….okay, at least I am.
But there is a right way and wrong way to wait on God. The natural tendency is to sit back and think, “When God drops this on me, then I’ll do something about it.” But that is really an attitude that is faithless and lazy.
A better approach is for us to draw closer to God knowing He might want to do something in us to prepare us for our next step. We can wait with full faith and expectancy that God has something big in store for us in His timing! That is why I’m starting the Draw the Circle Prayer Challenge.
Why is it called “Draw the Circle Prayer Challenge”? This is a reference to Mark Batterson’s book “The Circle Maker“. A great book worth reading I might add. Perhaps you could see it as circling your wagons around something you need God to do in your life.
I have some things that I need to circle in prayer. Perhaps you do too.
Maybe you need a job.
Maybe you need God to move in a child of yours.
Maybe you need God to show you what’s next.
Maybe you just want to know God in a deeper way.
If that’s you, it could be time for you to begin this challenge with me. I am starting today and ending on Easter. I am challenging our staff to pray that God moves in our church on Easter in a way that we have never seen.
Here’s a link where you can buy a copy of Mark Batterson’s 40 Day Prayer Challenge Guide. It has a short inspiring read for each day and will help guide you through this season.
If you are up to the challenge, join me today.
Post any thoughts with #40days on Twitter to join me in this journey.
