This weekend we launch into a new series that I’ve wanted to do for almost a year now. God laid it on my heart, because I see people who show up at church, but really seem like they are not there. I think sometimes we go to church out of habit more than out of desire.
I’ve attended church most of my life. My parents were pastors, so I pretty much lived at the church. I know from firsthand experience how routine church can feel. When this routine takes hold of your heart, you start to come with an attitude of wanting to get through it rather than wanting God to move through it. You lose any anticipation or expectation of what God is going to do.
I heard a quote the other day that I believe will set us up as we approach this weekend. “Expectation is the breeding ground for miracles.” There is so much truth in that statement.
Jesus said, “according to your faith, it will be done to you” to a couple blind men as he healed them on the spot.
Do you need a healing in your life?
Do you need a financial miracle in your life?
Do you need God to divinely change your situation?
Then you need to come with expectation every weekend that you are going to meet with a miracle-working God, worship Him, and expect Him to do miracles in your life.
Otherwise…it’s just church!
