This weekend we launch our new Experience times. I know the new change is going to cause stress on people for a while. It is me as well.
Saturday: 5:15pm and 6:45pm
Sunday: 9:45am and 11:15am
Maybe you are wondering why we chose those times. Some have asked, “Did you choose those times just to drive us crazy?” The answer is actually “No” (although sometimes we take pleasure in doing that).
All of these times are really based around 2 things.
1) What will help us reach people who aren’t going to church now.
This is pretty much always at the forefront of our discussions when it comes to church. We make no bones about it, this is at the core of our vision. We wanted to get times on Sunday as close to the 10-11am hour which seems to be the best time to reach new people. Since those times happened to fall on a quarter hour, we thought, why not do the same on Saturday.
2) What times will help our volunteers out the most.
This was our second consideration. The people who are carving time away from family, relaxation or work to serve at Crossroads mean everything to this ministry. We wanted to consider their schedules and from the feedback, these times helped out. If you are serving at this church on Saturday or Sunday, I thank you. You rock.
I’m having a hard time getting mentally prepared for Saturday. But in the end, I believe it will allow us to reach more people with the gospel. It might be a sacrifice for you and the times might drive you crazy (Don’t get too excited, they could change again in the future!), but is it worth it if we can affect people’s eternities?
Hope to see you on Saturday!
