Love. Sex. Dating. Closing the Series.

Pastor Rick closed out the Love. Sex. Dating. series with a message about communication in relationships.

Communication is so important to every interaction that we have. This is even more true when it comes to relationships. Through Pastor Rick’s message, we learned that two things are essential to the right kind of communication, submission and love.

Ephesians 5:21-25 (NIV)
“21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.”

In this context, submission is not a result of struggling until someone gives up. Submission is a response to the example that Christ set for the Church. We submit to one another, because of love. Just like Christ gave Himself up for His Church because of His great love for us.

Christ set the example of love that requires submission and asks us to model our relationships after that example.
