When a church gives back!

This past weekend through our GiveBack Project, we shared some exciting numbers with our church and set the course for our future.  As a church, we are committed to doing whatever it takes to help people get on the path to God.  One of the primary ways we do this is by serving our communities.

One of the ways we gave back to our community was through Warm-up Lancaster.  Because of the generosity of the people at Crossroads.TV, we were able to give nearly 1100 brand new coats to families of the Lancaster School District.  We selected two of the elementary schools in the district where there was a high rate of families in need.  It was a great joy to be able to GiveBack to the city of Lancaster during this cold season.

Here is the letter that I read from a mother of 2 children who really needed the help:

Dear Crossroads Church,

 I want to thank you for the wonderful coats you gave my children! Words just can’t express how touched I was to have these provided. My son is 8 and in 2nd grade, he has special needs and doesn’t always express himself well. When we got to the car he was crying and so happy. He said he had been cold at the bus stop and he loved his new coat! I thank you also for the coat for my little one, she is 2 and just loved the pink!

My family has struggled a few years now, since I’ve been laid off. Honestly I struggle to provide food and pay the lease. I purchase used and buy big so things will last. These coats were a luxury my kids will so enjoy and I appreciate, knowing they are warm and that there are people who care warms my heart and urges me to keep trying.

This is just the beginning of the work we plan to do in this city.  Moving forward, there will be tons of serving opportunities, as we are dedicated to giving 2K hours of service to our communities at each Crossroads.TV location.
