How big?

Through this series we’ve been doing called “One”, I have been challenged in many ways.  I’ve been wrestling with is this thought:  “How big is my faith in God?”  We all say we believe in God and that He will do what he said in the Bible.  I’m a pastor…I have to believe that…right?

This line from the Bible won’t leave me alone: “I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.” (Matthew 18:19)  I can’t seem to get it out of my mind.  I’ve heard it so many times and yet I’m not sure that I have always truly believed that.  If we really believe Jesus’ words, I guess we’d ask and expect God to do bigger things.

So I am challenged and asking God for more than I ever have before.  Not for myself, but for what he can do through me.  How big is your faith?

  10. Understanding the complex world of chronometers
Understanding COSC Validation and Its Importance in Watchmaking
COSC Certification and its Stringent Standards
Controle Officiel Suisse des Chronometres, or the Controle Officiel Suisse des Chronometres, is the official Swiss testing agency that attests to the accuracy and precision of timepieces. COSC accreditation is a mark of superior craftsmanship and reliability in chronometry. Not all timepiece brands seek COSC certification, such as Hublot, which instead adheres to its proprietary strict standards with movements like the UNICO calibre, reaching equivalent accuracy.

    The Art of Precision Chronometry
The central mechanism of a mechanized timepiece involves the mainspring, which provides energy as it loosens. This mechanism, however, can be susceptible to environmental elements that may impact its precision. COSC-validated movements undergo demanding testing—over fifteen days in various conditions (5 positions, three temperatures)—to ensure their durability and reliability. The tests assess:

Average daily rate accuracy between -4 and +6 seconds.
Mean variation, highest variation rates, and effects of temperature changes.
    Why COSC Certification Is Important
For timepiece aficionados and collectors, a COSC-accredited watch isn’t just a item of technology but a proof to enduring quality and accuracy. It represents a watch that:

    Offers exceptional reliability and accuracy.
Provides assurance of superiority across the whole design of the watch.
Is apt to retain its worth more efficiently, making it a wise choice.
    Famous Chronometer Brands
Several renowned manufacturers prioritize COSC validation for their timepieces, including Rolex, Omega, Breitling, and Longines, among others. Longines, for instance, offers collections like the Archive and Spirit, which highlight COSC-certified movements equipped with advanced materials like silicon equilibrium suspensions to improve resilience and efficiency.

Historical Context and the Development of Chronometers
The notion of the chronometer dates back to the need for precise timekeeping for navigation at sea, emphasized by John Harrison’s work in the eighteenth century. Since the official foundation of COSC in 1973, the accreditation has become a yardstick for evaluating the accuracy of luxury timepieces, sustaining a legacy of excellence in horology.

    Conclusion
Owning a COSC-accredited watch is more than an visual selection; it’s a dedication to quality and precision. For those appreciating precision above all, the COSC accreditation offers tranquility of mind, ensuring that each certified timepiece will perform reliably under various conditions. Whether for individual satisfaction or as an investment, COSC-accredited watches distinguish themselves in the world of horology, carrying on a legacy of careful chronometry.
