My church…read this!!!

I want to share a special message with those in our church today.  We are entering a season when many people begin thinking about going to church or returning to church.  Most churches experience an upswing in attendance near the end of August.  Perhaps when people get back into a routine of school, they think about the routine of their faith.  I’m not sure why, but I know that we should ride the wave.

I want to challenge every person in our church to invite someone to church THIS WEEKEND.  There are several more days left until the weekend.  And this weekend, I’m going to share the most basic gospel message.

Every time I’ve done that, I think that people will be bored with it.  However, I’ve found the opposite is true.  Believe it or not, people want the truth.  They want a clear message about how to find God.  They want to know how God wants them to live their life.  They don’t want to be confused!

My ministry verse is Romans 1:16.  I pray it nearly every time I get up to preach.  This one verse changed my life and ministry years ago, and it can change someone you know THIS WEEKEND!!

Romans 1:16 – I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.

If you are not ashamed of the gospel, then you will INVITE someone you love to hear it.  And here is the confidence we can have, the GOSPEL is the POWER of God for salvation for everyone who believes!!  That means when the Gospel is preached, God’s power is released.

So who in your life needs the Gospel?  Maybe you need to hear it. If so, bring someone with you this weekend.  Do whatever it takes to get them to church with you.  Buy them lunch after.  Pick them up beforehand.  Meet them in front of the building.  Whatever it takes, invite them to hear the Gospel and let’s believe together that God is going to move in their life!
