Book Review: Wild Goose Chase (Mark Batterson)
I picked up 2 of Mark’s books several months ago at the recommendation of another pastor. I read this book first and didn’t want to put it down. Mark shares some incredibly insightful things about Bible stories we are all to familiar with. The theme of this book is something that really challenged me as a Christ follower. The title comes from a Celtic Christian term for the Holy Spirit. The Celtic Christians referred to the H.S. like chasing a wild goose. In his book, Mark points out that pursuing God should take us on a wild goose chase. It should not be boring or mundane, but full of adventure and faith.
I liked this book so much that we have decided to take this theme and turn it into a message series. We are launching a series called “Cages” this coming weekend. If we are truly going to pursue God like we should, then we are going to have to break free of some cages that hold us back. These cages might not be what you are expecting either. I think it is going to be an incredible series.
I highly recommend this book to anyone, not just church leaders. Everyone who is a follower of Jesus needs to embrace the adventure of following Him wherever it takes us!
