Burn the Plow

In Part 2 of y2k, Pastor Tim challenged all of us to get involved with the goal of seeing 2,000 people at Crossroads.TV every weekend by the end of 2014. If you missed it, you can watch it here. A goal like that requires everyone to go all in together.

The reason most people don’t get involved is because they think that God can’t use them to do anything siginficant. In response, Pastor Tim shared this quote, “God does not call the qualified; He qualifies the called.” God will give you everything you need to do the very thing that He has called you to do. God needs people who are willing to respond when, like the story of Elisha’s calling, He throws the cloak over their shoulders.

1 Kings 19:19 (NIV)”So Elijah went from there and found Elisha son of Shaphat. He was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen, and he himself was driving the twelfth pair. Elijah went up to him and threw his cloak around him.”

The only way to get over the fear of answering God’s call is to just take one step. It will lead to the next step, and the next step and the next step. Eventually you will find yourself fulfilling His calling in your life. Your first step is obedience.

God has a plan for you, but He does not force it upon you. He throws His cloak on you, and you have to choose to run after Him. In the story of Elisha’s calling, He burned the plow and slaughtered the oxen. He knew there was a cost to following God’s call. God is calling all of us to invest in reaching people who are lost, and it requires something from us.

Pastor Tim shared 3 ways to be a part of the y2k initiative.

B -Bring someone with you to church.

I – Invest your time, by serving. (Join a ccTeam.)

G – Give an additional gift by the end of 2013.

We know that y2k is not going to be possible unless every person at Crossroads realizes that God has called us to do something BIG. Will you sit on the sidelines or will you answer God’s call?
